So living in Los Angeles you get to see some pigeons. Okay, you get to see a lot of pigeons. Obviously they don’t bother me one bit, but other people don’t share my sentiments… I’ve heard pigeons been referred to as “flying rats” more times than I’d like to count. I can’t help but think, though, that if all pigeons were as beautiful as the Pink-necked Green Pigeon (Treron vernans) then they wouldn’t get hated on as much (or at all).
This bird is stunning; from the top of its violet head to the tips of its hot pink toes. Of course, only the males look this way. Females are much duller in comparison, sticking mainly to an olive green palette. \
I think I’m going to have to do an eyeshadow look to match this bird’s fabulous coloring. What do you guys think?
Edit: Turns out these guys didn’t always look so sexy. Check them out as babies. Yeesh.
