Habitat: Papua New Guinea

Last year a new species of giant rat, named the Bosavi Woolly Rat, was discovered in an extinct volcano hidden in the remote rainforests of Papua New Guinea. The rats – 32 inches long and 3.3 pounds – had never encountered humans before and were quite friendly! One of the expedition members said the rat just sat next to him while happily munching away on a leaf.

Imagine being that Woolly Rat and having a giant creature come out of no where and start messing with you. It’s really cool that they’re so trusting… I hope we don’t let them down by eating them or something funky like that. You never know what those native peoples will start doing!
