Pretty little lizard, isn’t it? Though, most people never really get a chance to get a good look at the small and super speedy Spotted Whiptail Lizard (Cnemidophorus ocellifer); only a flash of green and then a cloud of dust as it takes off through the undergrowth!

If it’s mating season, the lizard in the lead would be the female since their courtship ritual involves her heading the chase as several males try and catch up to her. Whoever catches her first wins the “prize” , so to speak, ensuring that the fittest and fastest male will father her offspring. Good idea lady, except for the whole running bit. Yikes, count me out of that dating game. How about a tv-watching match instead??
