Habitat: Indonesia & Papua New Guinea
Status: Least Concern

This stylin’ bird is the Crested Satinbird (Cnemophilus macgregori). It had been formerly known as the Crested Bird-of-paradise but after extensive genetic research it was determined that this bird is not even related to the rest of the birds-of-paradise. That must have been a bummer when it got demoted to just a ‘satinbird.’ I mean, it definitely sounds cooler to be a bird-of-paradise, don’t you think?

At least it’s got a sick color scheme and cute little shape to it. Bragging rights still there!
