Looking at this caterpillar of the moth Parasa joanae you might be thinking that aliens DO exist. And they can be found right in the rainforests of Costa Rica! How convenient. This odd caterpillar is found mainly on the Caribbean slope at medium to high elevations (700–1650 m)… so spottings are quite rare (I would assume).
Luckily some adventurous photographers have captured these marvelous photos for our enjoyment! Ah, nothing like being able to see a crazy cool creature without having to trek up a mountain.
