So I tried guys, I really did. I’ve never had a creature that I couldn’t find any information on! But I just had to show this insect to you. It blew my mind haha!

It’s called a Peacock Fly (Callopistromyia annulipes) and its dazzling appearance is just amazing. I especially like the blue glossy wings.

If anyone knows something – ANYTHING – on this fly then please leave a comment! Thank you!

Edit: thank you Jason Ralls and Jim for letting us know that this fly is in the family Ulidiidae, which are also known as the picture-winged flies! I guess they’re found in the eastern U.S. and Canada and are either herbivores or saprophagous (feeding on dead or decaying animal matter). You guys rock!
