Habitat: rivers & estuaries of Southeast Asia

As the largest freshwater fish in the world, the Giant Freshwater Stingray really is a modern day monster. Weighing in at 1,100–1,300 lbs the stingray gets to be 15 ft long and 6.2 ft across. There is a growing sport fishery for this species. When caught on a line, it may bury itself under lots of mud, making it almost impossible to lift. It is also capable of pulling boats significant distances or even underwater. The World Conservation Union has assessed the giant freshwater stingray as Vulnerable over its entire range

I will never understand how humans want to catch endangered animals just for the fun of it. How is it fun to kill a rare living creature? How is it fun to be the cause of a beautiful animal going extinct?
