Jess, the English Springer Spaniel, goes above and beyond the normal duties given to a sheepdog. She’s become a sheep feeder now, too! Have you ever seen a dog feed a lamb before?
Jess lives with her owner Louise Moorhouse, who has 270 sheep on her 180-acre farm in Devon, England. Jess lends an extra paw to Moorhouse by playing mother sheep to four young lambs who could not be fed by their own mother.
Jess, who’s now 10 years old, has “been doing it ever since she was a puppy,” Louise says. “I taught her to hold the milk bottle in her mouth and she did the rest. It’s very funny when she runs across the field gripping the bottle.”
But that’s not the only trick up this pup’s sleeve. She also carries farm equipment and buckets at a moments notice. It’s so hard to find good help like this these days.
In exchange for her hard work, Jess is rewarded with belly rubs and nuzzles from her grateful sheep friends. Adorable!
