Habitat:
worldwide in temperate and tropical seas

The strange-bodied Angel Shark looks like a cross between a shark and a stingray with its flattened body and broad pectoral fins.

It lays in wait, buried in mud and sand, in order to catch its prey. Once something crosses its path, the Angel Shark uses its extensible jaws to quickly snap upwards to grab the unassuming fish right out of the water.

This video I found shows the Angel Shark’s powerful jaws in action, as it gulps down a horned shark (which later swims off unharmed, but it’s not shown in the video). Check it out!
