The White-vented Violetear (Colibri serrirostris) is a unique-looking bird due to its standout characteristic – bright purple ‘ears!’ The white-vented portion of its name comes from the fact that it has white feathers hidden beneath its glimmering emerald wings.
These are pretty fiesty little buggers, defending the flowers on which it feeds quite aggressively from other species of birds. Beauty and brawn!
